With Barbados’ travel protocols requiring a COVID-19 PCR test to end hotel quarantine, The Crane Resort has opened its own on-site COVID-19 testing laboratory to offer reliable and timely test results to its members and guests. The lab is part of the resort’s mission to help recharge the tourism industry in Barbados in the midst of the ongoing pandemic.

Designed in close collaboration with officials from Barbados’ Public Health Laboratory, the lab was developed following WHO guidelines for the establishment of PCR testing facilities in developing states, in accordance with Level II best practices.

Barbados Covid Lab offers guests the ability to seamlessly make an online appointment to be swabbed by on-site medical professionals with PCR test results delivered, digitally and securely, within 24 hours. The lab will also offer guests COVID-19 antigen tests to reenter their home countries, with results available within 15 minutes.

June 2020

The Crane was approved by the island’s Ministry of Health as a designated facility for repatriating nationals, based on its ideal nature for physical distancing and the introduction of the Crane Confidence Programme – a robust suite of health and safety protocols throughout the guest journey.

July 2020

Commercial air travel returns to Barbados and The Crane is designated as the island’s first approved quarantine hotel, hosting travellers opting out of quarantine in government facilities. The Resort is also designated the island’s first satellite testing hotel, offering guests the convenience of on-site, hassle-free COVID-19 testing.

November 2020

The Crane becomes the island’s first isolation hotel offering guests reassurance that in the unfortunate event of a positive COVID-19 PCR test result during their stay, they may continue their stay until recovery in a luxury suite with a private pool, subject to an assessment and approval by the Ministry of Health.

May 2021
